History:Maiden voyage abandoned after gale damage necessitating putting into Torbay.
12th October 1847. Southampton to Malta, Alexandria service.
February 1848. Lengthened to 2316/10 feet - 1,626 gt
May 1850. Carried H.R.H. Prince Jung Bahadur, Prime Minister of Nepal, to Britain. He brought with him a large collection of animals, including the first hippopotamus seen in England.
1854. Requisitioned for service during the Crimean War and served as transport No.25.
22nd September 1854. The inquest was held on Thomas Esson who died while working on the paddle wheel when the ship was in dry dock in Southampton.
1861/2. Re-entered service after lengthening to 276 feet 8 inches by Wigram’s. Engine now 2,000ihp. 12 knots.
3rd March 1862. Re-registered.
1864. Carried Garibaldi to England.
28th October 1870. Sold for £15,000 to Caird & Co, Greenock, in part payment for ‘Khedive’. The engines were removed and she was reduced to a brig.
1870. Sold to Matthew Wilson and Joseph McLay, London.
1871. Sold to George Turnbull and J. R. Greig, Glasgow.
1880. Hulk at Trinidad, owners Gregory Turnbull. Later scuttled at sea off Port of Spain.
